Student of the month

Kyra was chosen as "Student of the Month" for the month of December. Each month the school focuses on a character trait and each teacher picks a student from their class that exemplifies that trait. The theme for December was caring. I talked to Kyra's teacher and she said that Kyra is the most caring person she knows. So, Kyra was recognized in front of the school as student of the month. Talk about proud mommy moments!

Following through

I think it's fair to say that I stink at keeping up with a blog! I forget about it in all honesty. Life continues to move forward for us. I think at times every mom finds herself being nominated for "meanest mom in the world" award. I have won that award more times than I can count. There seems to be a fine line between following through on threats and being just plain mean. Case in point, Tanner had a science test this last week. His teacher was nice enough to give us advance notice about it. I told Tanner that if he didn't do well, he wouldn't be playing soccer this weekend. (big threat!) Well, he came home announcing that he had failed the test. Granted there were some things that happened that didn't help matters, but the fact still remained that he had failed. He was so upset. I reminded him that his science teacher has told each student that they can re-take the test is they would like to. So, we studied REALLY hard last night and then he went to school early today to take the test. He passed with flying colors! He came home from school all excited because now he could still play soccer tomorrow! Now, the question is....if he hadn't done very well on the re-take would I have followed through and not let him play? I don't know...I'm just glad I don't have to face that decision.

My new blog

Can you believe it? I'm actually entering the world of the blog! I'm really new to this whole blog thing. Hopefully I can remember it's here. My friends have been teasing me about caving. I'm hoping I'm not getting into something I may regret! Wish me luck on my new endeavor.
